How Charlo Works
Charlo is built around a simple idea: connect with people through usernames, then choose the right way to talk.
Create your account
Create a Charlo account and choose a unique username. That username becomes the identity other people can use to find you without needing your phone number.
Find someone
Search for another person using their Charlo username. Charlo uses usernames for discovery, so a phone number does not need to be exposed to start connecting.
Start a conversation
When you find someone, begin the conversation through Charlo's existing messaging flow. Depending on the situation, a conversation can begin with a message request that the recipient can respond to.
Send messages
Send text messages, photos, voice messages and files or documents. You can reply to a message, add an emoji reaction, or forward a message to keep the conversation moving.
Make a voice call
When you want to talk in real time, make a one-to-one voice call through Charlo. Charlo currently focuses on voice calling and messaging.
Privacy and control
Use the controls available in Charlo to block or unblock people and report users where supported. Username-based communication helps you choose what contact detail you share.
Manage your account
Update your profile and settings from within the app. If you decide to leave Charlo, follow the steps on the Account Deletion page to permanently delete your account.
